Editorial guidelines.

Two versions of these pieces have been prepared: an Urtext edition, with preface, critical notes and original clefs, and a "practical" edition in which only treble- and bass-clefs are used. Since the latter edition has been prepared for performers, suggested accidentals and corrections are printed directly in the text. For a complete discussion on performing problems, please refer to the urtext edition.

Various meantone temperaments have been used for the MIDI renderings of the canzoni:
