Giovanni Francesco Capello (fl.1610-1619)

Italian composer and organist. From the scant information given on the title-pages of his works, we know that he was born in Venice and that he belonged to the Hieronymite Congregation at Fiesole, a monastic congregation at the retreat of S Girolamo there. With a single exception his output consists of sacred music. He was entirely up to date in his approach to sacred music and his works are among the most progressive in Italy at the time.
