Agostino Bendinelli (1635-after 1702)

Italian composer and teacher. [...] He taught A.M. Pacchioni and G.M. Bononcini, who paid tribute to him in his Musico prattico (Bologna, 1673, p.106) and included a canon by him in praise of Bononcini himself. Another canon, in honour of the dedicatee, prefaces Bendinelli's only known volume of music, Psalmi vespertini ternis, quaternis, quinisque vocibus ad organum concinendi una cum litaniis BVM op.1 (Bologna, 1671). Its contents, in the concertato style, with solo episodes and full sections alternating, indicate his technical competence.
